DMZ – A peek into North Korea.

The most popular tour that is offered on US military bases in South Korea is the DMZ tour. The DMZ or Demilitarized zone is the line that separates North and South Korea. The area is heavily guarded by the best soldiers of each side. From either side, you can see gigantic flag poles of each country.

Me and my friends decided to sign up for the tour to get a glimpse of North Korea. The tour guides were very knowledgeable as they showed us the different buildings in the DMZ.

Here are some pictures of the trip..

We also had a side trip to the Korean War Memorial on the way to the DMZ.

This trip was definitely an eye-opener! The reality is that the North and South are still currently engaged in this war. Right now, they are in an armistice but that can be lifted at any time. I’m glad we took the time to visit these places and know the history of this war. This gave us a better perspective of why we are here.
