Flew to Cambodia with the girls… recently. Heh. Technically, we flew to Thailand then took a 4-hour bus ride to Cambodia, and another 2-hour car ride to Siem Reap but anyway… photos!
This has been a most memorable trip and we’re planning to make this an annual thing. Maybe Korea next? Or maybe India?
If you’re going to Cambodia, don’t bother changing your USD to Cambodian currency, which is Riel. 4000R is to $1.00, however this can increase to 4,200R : $1.00, depending on the establishment. So stick to your $$$.
Also, it’s okay to be friendly but refrain from asking for too much assistance from locals as they almost always ask for dollar tips in return. And if you’re traveling on a tight budget like we were, you’ll need all the money you have.
In Thailand, I have no idea why people think it’s okay to grab you. A male vendor in Pat Phong Night Market grabbed my arm and steered me to his stall trying to sell scarves, souvenirs, etc. I got annoyed and told him to not touch me. He shouted apologies as my friends and I walked away. A tuk-tuk driver got too friendly and rested his hand on my leg, and I felt violated enough to tell him that if he does that again, I will punch him in the face and kill him. He stopped right there.
Other than those two, Thais are okay. Too bad we didn’t get to see Mario Maurer.
