I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again. One of the many perks of serving in the military is that you get to see many places for free. For travelers like us, it really does not get any better than that.

Me and Rac have been to countless destinations because of this military benefit. Last month, I was informed that they are going to send me to Germany for a two-week advance class. Even though this is my second class there, I was very excited about the trip since I can take Rac to explore other spots in Europe that we haven’t seen.

My co-worker was going to the same place for a different class so we decided to carpool. It would take us about ten hours to drive from Aviano, Italy to Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany so we decided to cut the trip in half. Our first stop, Munich!

Decided to stay at the Hilton Munich because of its proximity to the city center. Also didn’t hurt that I was a Hilton Gold and got benefits such as free breakfast, internet and lounge access. As soon as we got there, I was informed that we have been upgraded to the Executive Floor with Executive lounge access.

We dropped our bags off and set out to explore the city! Our hotel was sitting on top of the S-Bahn metro and we were only two stops away from the city center.

We decided to get dinner at this old-school German brauhaus.

After dinner, we explored the city some more. We had quite the adventure trying to find the local Hard Rock Cafe. We were determined to find it since I had to buy a friend some souvenirs from there.

We headed back to the hotel a little early and got some drinks from the bar before deciding to call it a night. The next day, after breakfast, we checked out and drove to the BMW Showroom and museum. As a BMW enthusiast, this was definitely the highlight of the trip for me. I even found a remote control replica of my car!

I could’ve easily spent the whole day exploring the showroom and museum but we still had five hours to go until our next destination. Munich had so much to offer and one day is definitely not enough to experience everything the city has to offer. Next stop, Spangdahlem!
