Since we’ll be staying in Germany for two weeks and my good buddy Brandon is stationed here, we decided to take a weekend roadtrip to Brussels, Belgium. We were leaving Germany that Saturday, spend the night in Brussels then come back the next day.
Finally, Friday came and me and Rac were sitting in our hotel room when I felt that familiar feeling I get when I’m bored and not on the move. I hastily messaged Brandon on Facebook.
Me: Hey, what’s up?
Brandon: About to get off work, you?
Me: I’m bored.
Brandon: What do you want to do?
Me: Amsterdam? :))
Brandon. Are you serious?
Me: I’m down if you’re down.
Five hours later, we find ourselves in this small hotel in the middle of the red light district in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Our check-in counter was a bar which was pretty awesome and a travel first for me.

It was myself, Rac, Brandon and Justin on this impromptu adventure. I booked our room for 90 euros while I was waiting for Brandon to pick us up from the hotel. The last time I was in Amsterdam, I booked the Hilton which was far from the city center but since we only have one night to enjoy the city, getting a hotel in the city center was a priority.

It took us about three hours and change to get there from Germany. Since we were staying in the city center, street parking was impossible so we had to use the nearest parking garage for a whopping 45 euro per day!

We quickly settled in our small room and headed out to explore the city.
Visited quite a few bars while enjoying the sights and sounds of Amsterdam at night.

We woke up early the next day to check-out and explore the city. But first we had to find breakfast.

Afterwards we got our car and visited the famous I am Amsterdam sign. We also got to see the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh and Diamond museum among other attractions in the same area.

We walked around the city for a couple of hours and founds some very interesting spots.

We also founds this cool interactive game. Basically, you had to pedal as fast as you can so your light beams can beat the other guy’s light beams. Pretty entertaining!

After spending a couple of hours exploring the city on foot, we decided to get back to our car and head to our next destination. Next stop, Brussels!
