As usual this trip started with an opportunity to book another dirt-cheap RyanAir flight. My only wish is for RyanAir to have more flights to other places from here! The tickets were booked about 3 months in advance and they were about $60 roundtrip per person. Not bad for a weekend getaway! I really love the fact that for the price of a good meal for two, a night out of drinking or a train ticket to Milan, we can fly into an exotic place we’ve never been to. Tough to beat that!
Our group of 5 carpooled and we left the Treviso Airport (TSF) on time. The 2-hour flight was pretty uneventful. IMHO, RyanAir sells some decent snacks in their flights. In this particular one, everything was half-off since it was the last flight of the day.

Shortly after, we land in Malta. We head straight to the rental car desks and proceed to get our vehicle. Once we get to our car, we quickly notice that it was right-hand drive! Haha! We didn’t even realize this when researching. Oh well, no better time to learn than now. Thankfully, we brought our GPS and 30 minutes later, we arrive at our hotel, The Buggiba Hotel. We booked a 2-bedroom apartment and it was super cheap since it still wasn’t peak-season.

We dropped our bags, went out for some drinks and called it a night.
Woke up the next day for some breakfast. Afterwards, we waited to be picked up for our day tour. We booked an all-day trip to Comino, the famous Blue Lagoon and Gozo. Along with Malta, they comprise the main islands of this country.
At about 10am, our ride picked us and dropped us off at the harbor were we boarded the Romantika boat.

We toured the islands and saw some amazing sights before finally arriving in Comino and the Blue Lagoon. We grabbed a quick bite and dove in! The water was still pretty cold but it was a beautiful day and the water was irresistible.

We then boarded the boat again to see the third island, Gozo. As soon as we got there, we boarded this tour bus that took us around the small island. We even saw the places where they shot Game of Thrones! We did some souvenir shopping and some more sight seeing in Victoria, the center of the island. We also had some local dishes in Jubilee Cafe.

The tour bus dropped us off at the dock as we waited for our ferry back to Malta.
The next day, we checked out of our hotel and headed to Valetta, the capital of Malta. Once there, we hired some local smart taxis to tour us around the city. We also visited St John’s Cathedral which was amazing.

A little after lunch, we decided to head back to the airport. We dropped our rental car off and checked-in for our flight back. We stopped by the airport Hard Rock Cafe to get some drinks before boarding. Overall, a very nice weekend getaway to Malta. There is just so much to do in this small country so this is one place we definitely need to go back to!
