Another four day weekend meant another European destination for us. This time, we are going to visit the city of lights, Paris!
While I’ve been to Paris before, it would be myself and Rac’s first time together. We are also going with some friends from work. For our flights and accommodations, we tried to keep the costs down as we went with RyanAir and Airbnb. We got flights that would take us to Paris Beauvais, from there we took the bus to the city. We also rented a 2 bedroom apartment just outside the city to be the base of our stay.
Some tips for readers that are looking to visit Paris:
Use UBER – This app really saved us a lot of money. Instead of taking taxis, this app will request for a private car to take you anywhere you want. The amazing part is that they are cheaper than the local taxis!
Buy the Museum Pass – For 42 euro, this pass will get you free access to a lot of museums and attractions around the city. The best part is you can skip the lines!
Hop on Hop off bus – If you do not want to bother yourself with figuring out the metro and bus systems, buy a hop on hop off bus ticket and see all the famous attractions!
For our first full day, we visited the Louvre to check out the Mona Lisa and the other famous works of art. Visitors will need to allot at least half a day to really explore all the exhibits. After the Louvre we visited the Eiffel tower. Myself and Rac found ourself just people watching at the base of the tower. It was entertaining just watching tourists, vendors and even scammers interact! The next day, we took the hop on hop off bus and visited the other parts of the city. Our first stop was the famous Notre Dame Cathedral. We were able to go up the towers of the church with our Museum Pass.
After Notre Dame, we boarded the bus again and got off the Arc De Triomphe. We also used our pass here to go up the arc. Afterwards, we walked to the famous street, Champs Elysees. This is where we found the Louis Vuitton flagship store where we spent a lot of time (and money)! We justified that it is our first time in Paris together so what better souvenir than to buy Louis Vuitton! We even saw Jericho Rosales, a famous Filipino actor!
Next, we headed to Sacre Cour where we relaxed in front of the church and listened to street performers all night. We had dinner at a local resto nearby. To end our night and our Paris adventure, we visited the famous Moulin Rouge! All in all, it was an amazing weekend with good friends. Paris has so much to offer so we will definitely be back!
