Being in the military requires us to be flexible with our schedules as stuff changes constantly and this trip was a good example of that. We were planning on going back to the Philippines in March to attend our good friend’s wedding. Well long story short, I got tasked with a short-notice deployment and we decided to go home a month earlier so that we can see our families before I leave.
Both of us had limited vacation time se we would only be in Manila for a little more than a week. Other than relaxing and eating a lot, we planned a family trip/road trip to Pagudpud and Vigan!
Once again, the perfect opportunity to use our miles to book our tickets! Still had some US Airways miles to burn and since they are not part of Oneworld, it was my chance to try different airlines! In the end, booked this crazy 10 segment itinerary for 110k miles and $300+ in taxes:
Venice-London-Paris (British Airways Business Class)
Paris-Doha-Hong Kong (Qatar Airways First & Business Class)
Hong Kong-Manila (Cathay Pacific First Class)
Manila- Hong Kong (Cathay Pacific Business & The Wing)
Hong Kong-Kuala Lumpur-Paris (Malaysian Airlines A380)
Paris-London (British Airways Business Class – 2 day layover)
London-Venice (British Airways Business Class)
Rac on the other hand used United Miles to book Business Class tickets on Lufthansa and Swiss Airlines!
For my 2 night layover in London, used 50k Club Carlson points to stay at the Radisson Blue Edwardian Mercer Hotel.
Another one of our trips were almost everything was free! Since we used miles and points, we only had to pay taxes for our flights!
Now sit back, relax and enjoy the next installations chronicling our most recent adventure!
