Day eight.
Pisa should have been our last stop. But instead of driving home, we decided to take this road trip to epic levels.
We had a light breakfast at our Airbnb in Pisa, and then we started the two hour drive towards Florence.
Our first stop was Piazzale Michelangelo where we saw the bronze cast of David and enjoyed a panoramic view of Florence.
We had a heavy lunch of steak, pasta, pizza and potatoes at La Sosta De’ Golosi. After coffee and desert, we went around Piazza del Duomo and marveled at the glorious Gothic structure – Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore. We drove around and saw some of the famous bridges in Florence. In the afternoon, we were off to Roma.
When we reached Roma, we settled in our Airbnb and decided to make our own dinner.
After dinner, we went on a night tour of the ancient Rome. I have to say that the Italians have done a splendid job lighting up their attractions. I personally think these sights are more appealing at night.
We enjoyed Rome very much. There were so many beautiful structures to admire, and it seemed to be the perfect time to visit. There were no long lines or crowds in any of the tourist spots, and the Spring weather was great for walking around during night or day.
My favorite spot in Rome though was the Trevi Fountain. Until now, the Trevi Fountain is number one on my places to revisit. I don’t know what it is exactly, but there was something magical about it. I felt like I could sit in front the fountain all night. We made our wishes on the fountain and saw more of Rome – Colosseo, Pantheon, Arch of Constantine, Caesar’s Palace to name a few.
After our tour, we made our way back to our Airbnb. We needed the rest for our final destination.
The awesome journey continues.
